artisanal rugs
tizi studio exists for one thing: real craftsmanship, made to last.
each of our rugs begins in morocco, where the wool is spun, dyed and worked by hand on the loom, following a tradition passed down through generations. no two rugs leave the loom the same — a slight shift in a line, a row woven a little differently, a colour that deepens with the light of the room it lands in. we don't smooth these differences away. they're the reason a handmade rug feels different underfoot than anything made by a machine.
we work in small batches, not collections that repeat season after season. once a design is gone, it's gone — which means the rug in your home is, quite literally, the only one of its kind.
our name comes from tizi, the berber word for a mountain pass — a point of passage between two places. It's how we think about what we do: carrying a craft rooted in the atlas mountains into homes far from where it began, without losing what makes it worth keeping.
we're a small studio, based in lisbon.
